This is much better than expected and will keep the ECB’s tightening bias intact, with particular focus on inflation to limit potential second-round effects. In the second quarter of 2026, seasonally adjusted GDP increased by 0.4% in the Eurozone and by 0.5% in the EU, compared with the previous quarter, according to a preliminary flash estimate published by Eurostat.
Compared with the same quarter of the previous year, seasonally adjusted GDP increased by 1.0% in the Eurozone and by 1.2% in the EU in the second quarter of 2026.
