German economy holds up in Q2, posts marginal growth on the quarter again
- Q2 preliminary GDP +0.2% vs +0.1% q/q expected
- Prior (Q1) +0.3%; revised to +0.4%
The German economy is seen holding up in Q2 as it posts marginal growth on the quarter. That being said, Destatis points out that a rise in exports was arguably the key reason as preliminary findings saw that consumer spending remained subdued while investment declined. Still, the headline figure will be a little encouraging but the devil will be in the details. And much like the resilience seen in France as well, the bigger challenge will be to keep this up in 2H 2026.
