BOJ maintains assessment for all 9 Japanese regions in latest Sakura report

There's no change to the overall assessment for all 9 Japanese regions, as per the BOJ's latest quarterly report. Most regional economies are seen as "recovering moderately" still.

Besides that, many regions did note a risk of a sharp drop in exports while firms are mulling price increases for food, daily ncessities around the summer onwards. The firms noted that the passthrough on prices is largely to do with rising raw material costs due to the Middle East conflict, which seems to be progressing at a much faster pace than anticipated.

That said, many regions also still reported that firms - including smaller ones - are still offering high wage increases this year. However, some firms did say that it could be difficult to keep with that kind of pay rise moving forward considering recent economic developments.
