Iran issues statement in condemning blatant violation to ceasefire deal by the US

Well, perhaps the most surprising thing is that the deal and/or memorandum of understanding managed to last this long. It always felt like it was a matter of time.

Both sides are still somewhat playing to the optics but trying to keep at it for 60 days might just be one step too far.

Iran's foreign ministry is now issuing a statement in condemning the "blatant violation" of its deal with the US. That as they accuse Washington of breaking the arrangements in the Strait of Hormuz as well as continued strikes by Israel in Lebanon.

As such, Iran is saying that such actions is making the interim deal "ineffective". Note, they are phrasing this deal as just being an interim one - which is merely a statement of fact but often overlooked. In any case, Iran's modus operandi will be to continue to play for time by kicking the can down the road.

As a reminder, everything in the deal/memorandum of understanding needs to hold for next 60 days of negotiations. If one piece unravels, it all comes undone.

Right now, the deal is hanging on by a thread. The ceasefire is extremely fragile and if both the US and Iran keep exchanging blows, we are likely headed to a reset again.
