Atlanta Fed GDPNow growth estimate rises to 6.2% from 5% previously

The Atlanta Fed growth estimate for Q3 rose to 6.2% from 5.0% in its initial reading. Recall from last week, the Q2 GDP came in at 1.5%. The Atlanta Fed model for Q2 forecasted 1.5%. Kudos to them.

For the current model estimate, they said: 

The GDPNow model estimate for real GDP growth (seasonally adjusted annual rate) in the third quarter of 2026 is 6.2 percent on August 3, up from 5.0 percent on July 30. After this morning’s releases from the US Census Bureau and the Institute for Supply Management, the nowcasts of third-quarter real personal consumption expenditures growth and third-quarter real gross private domestic investment growth increased from 3.3 percent and 15.9 percent, respectively, to 4.6 percent and 17.9 percent.
