Trump: We’re taking over the Strait of Hormuz
This is a comment that sounds like a resumption of the war in Iran. Trump didn't TACO at the start of the week, so we will have to see where oil goes from here.
"Iran has nothing," he said.
So that really is the question. Can Iran close the Strait?
If not, how long does the US want to keep its navy in the region to fight drones flying at ships crossing the Strait?
"We had a deal and they broke it," he said of the Strait.
He then seemed to indicate that it will be the US taking tolls in the region, saying "we're going to get paid for guarding the Strait."
There has been an extension of some of today's moves on these headlines, with the euro and gold dipping.
WTI crude oil was last up $2.68 to $74.09.
"We're going to keep the strait, and we'll probably run it. We'll become the guardian of the strait. Maybe we'll call it the guardian angel of the strait. And we should be reimbursed for that," he said in phone interview on Fox.
